Carlota is a very nice young woman overwhelmed by her mother´s abuse. On the other hand, Cordelia is young as well but mean, always gets what she wants. Both have something in common: they look exactly the same. Alvaro is in love with Carlota, but Carlota´s mother one day tells her that she died (when the one who had died was Eugenia, Carlota´s sister), and he goes away. He then meets Cordelia and he is amazed by how much she looks like the woman he still loves. He marries her and have a daughter, but they´re very unhappy, because Cordelia isn't as sweet as "the other" woman. Cordelia cheats on Alvaro with his brother, Adrian who is as ambitious and mean as her. Adrian had also met Carlota, and was about to marry her but stood her up the day of the wedding when he found out she had resigned to her fortune, just because her mother had told her he was marrying her because of her money. One day Cordelia, Alvaro and Natalia plan to take a trip on a cruise, but Cordelia changes her mind and stands them up, so Carlota coincidentally, takes the same trip and meets Natalia, and falls in love with the girl, that could´ve been hers, because she´s Alvaron´s daughter too. One day, Cordelia puts a poisonous snake in Adrian´s bathtub and when she gets there to see him die they argue and he pulls her into the bathtub and she´s the one who dies. So Adrian, knowing that he might be accused of her death, tells everyone that Cordelia went away and she´s never coming back. This makes everyone happy except Natalia, who suffers and then has an accident and is very sick. So Adrian goes to Carlota (who had confronted and left her mother and moved out) and convinces her to move to the small town and pretend to be Cordelia, because Natalia is very ill. ec6 Written by Lulu Tolentino
