"Friend or Foe" was a game show combining knowledge and trust -- the catch being contestants (previously unknown to each other and paired at the beginning of the show) had to decide whether their partner would fairly divide the pot. Six contestants (three choosers and three "potential partners") are paired off and head to their own isolation booth. After spotting the teams $200, host Kennedy reads a series of multiple-choice questions, each worth $500. Both team members had to agree on an answer; after reviewing the guesses, Kennedy revealed the correct answer and announced the winnings. After four questions, the team with the least amount of money (or, in case of a tie, who took the longest time answering) are eliminated from the game ... but not until they head to the Trust Box to divide their winnings. That's where the fun (and oftentimes, shenanigans) begins. Each team member made a brief statement to their partner on why he/she should vote "Friend" and split the money. The contestants then made their decision, via hidden buttons on their side of the Trust Box. If both voted "Friend," they evenly split the money; if they each voted "Foe," they forfeited the whole thing. But if one voted "Friend" and the other went "Foe," the "Foe" kept everything and their "friend" disappointed, to put it mildly. A second round of four questions was played with the remaining teams, with questions worth $1,000 and the lowest-scoring team to that point eliminated after a visit to the Trust Box. The last remaining team advanced to the speed round, where they teamed to answer up to 10 questions (at $500 apiece) within 60 seconds. Three wrong answers stopped the game, but if they answered all 10 questions correctly, their pot is doubled. Then it's one last visit to the Trust Box, where they decide if they want to keep it all, hog it for themselves or blow the whole thing. fc8 Written by Brian Rathjen Teams of 3 trusted each other in this game competed for cash in this "Big Brother" and "Fear Factor" clone. In the beginning of the game, the three filmed contestants had a profile (each with their name/age/occupation/place of residence) told their backstabbing, manipulative, real-life stories about themselves, and host Kennedy would add to that contestant's real-life story (involving double-dealing, life-threatening, malicious, scandalous, lies, double-crossing, etc.) of what the person did that he/she was hurt. After each of the stories had been heard on tape, a stranger had been asked to picked one of the three players (that were heard on film) to become an official partner to them. In Round 1, each team started off with a trust fund of $200 a piece, and each question was worth $500. Host Kennedy would read a series of 4 questions, a piece with 4 separate answers. To get the money, two players on each of the three teams had to agree on the same answer and locked it in for 15 seconds. The two teams with the most amount of money after 4 questions, advances to the next round, if the team that's in last place and if there's a tie after 4 questions, the team who took longer to answer the questions, had lost and was forced to go into the trust box with the least amount of money in the team's trust fund. On the trust box, there's only one button, and the decision will be determined how the team's trust is divided. Before voting, each contestant on a team must state their case as to why they want the money. If both contestants had decided to be cool and to vote for "FRIEND" (if both contestants don't press the button), then they will split the money each on whatever they had in that trust fund. If one had voted for "FRIEND" (if one contestant didn't press the button) and the other voted for "FOE" (if the other contestant pressed the button). Foe takes the entire amount of money in that trust fund, while a friend will leave with nothing. If they both voted for "FOE" (if both contestants pressed the button), two contestants of the same team will not win any money that was in that trust fund and will go away with nothing). In Round 2, each question is worth $1000, and 4 questions were still left. The team with the most money in their trust fund at the end of Round 2 wins and advances on to the "RIGHT" or "WRONG" round to double that team's trust fund. At the end of the round, if there's a tie after 4 questions, this time, a tie breaker question was asked, and the second loser with the least amount of money goes to the trust box. In the final round, the winning team gets to double the amount of the trust fund (for a possible $22,000), by answering all 10 rapid fire questions in a 60-second time limit. Each correct answer is worth $500, every incorrect answer is worth a "strike", three strikes (three incorrect answers) meant that the game was over. The winning team gets to take one last trip to the trust box to find out whether if they're either "Friend" or "Foe". During the show's 2nd season, the show underwent 2 changes: At the beginning of the show, the contestants to whom they have been filmed on tape earlier do not select or pick their potential partners, and after the commercial break after the bonus round, only 1 winning team takes the last trip to the trust box.
