The rules for Lingo have been updated for season 2. The team that goes to the bonus round gets a bonus letter for winning, and also a bonus letter for each Lingo in the main game. Also, if the winning team makes a lingo on the first ball in Bonus Lingo, they win a trip, worth about $10,000. If they get a lingo using 2 or more balls, they win $5,000. ee9 Written by Bobby Peacock Based on the popular European game show in this remake of the 1987-1988 syndicated game show aired on Game Show Network(GSn) in the United States. 2 teams of 2 members competed. Each is given a partially-filled Lingo card (similar to a Bingo card) at the outset. The team selected to go 1st is given the 1st letter of a 5-letter word after the team makes a guess, they are shown which letters, if any, are correct and if they're in the correct position. Correctly guessing the word earns the team 25 (50 as doubled) points and allowed them to draw 2 blue number balls (1-70 separately in odd & even) out of their hopper; the balls corresponded to numbers left uncovered on their Lingo card. A guess which was not a real word misspelled or not 5 letters (i.e.: 4-3-2-1 Letter Word) or failing to guess the word within 5 tries turns control over to the other team who is given a free letter and a try at guessing the word. A team's turn also ends if they draw a red "stopper" ball. Completing a Lingo (5 covered numbers in a row) earned the team 50 points and a new Lingo card; the other team continued with their card until they completed it. Two rounds were played, with values doubling to 100 points per completed card at an undefined point in the game; they were also given three blue "?" balls in which allowed them to cover any open spot on the board. The team in the lead at the end of round 2 went on to the Bonus Lingo. In the Bonus Lingo, the team is given 2 minutes to complete as many 5-letter words as possible (ergo: 10 5-letter Words) with each guess worth $100 (i.e.: $1000=10 draws) and one draw out of the hopper. During the 1st season, completing the Bonus Lingo card earned the team a $4000 prize package. The 2nd season rule changes were as thus: At least one row could be completed with the first draw (a Super Bonus Lingo) in which earned the team a luxurious trip or otherwise completing the Bonus Lingo within the alloted number of tries (i.e.: 10) earned a $5000 bonus. Also during the 2nd season, the team could use "free letters" (1 per word) to help them guess the word; the team was given 1 for winning the front game, plus one additional letter for every Lingo completed. The 20 1st-season shows (which aired at least 5 times on Game Show Network over a period of 5 months) were taped in the Netherlands; The 2nd-season onward shows were taped in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
