Indio is a fourteen-year-old boy who lives in Playas de Tijuana. Every day after school, he works at Sacramento's ranch hoping to buy his own cockfighting rooster, el Gyro. When his dad refuses to help him buy the rooster, Indio starts selling empanadas and washing cars. One day, after he skips school to play with his friends, Indio meets and becomes infatuated with Brianda, a young prostitute working in the red light district. As time passes, Indio learns what it means to make money, a tough journey that takes him across the borders, from the slums of Montes Olímpicos to San Diego. All Indio (Pablo Tendilla Ortiz) ever wanted for his 15th birthday was a prizefighting rooster named el Gyro. Indio's dad, Jhonny (Pablo Tendilla Rocha), can't afford the rooster so he and his girlfriend, Rebecca (Aidee Gonzalez), introduce him to Brianda (Darina Rabago Soto), a young sexual worker in the red light district. A birthday surprise that doesn't turn out as expected. Determined to buy his rooster, Indio tries to make money. He goes from helping out his friend Sacramento (Jorge Hernández) on his rooster ranch, to selling empanadas, washing cars, and, finally, transporting packages across the USA/Mexican border.
